Fox Sports AM1350 | Matthew Kovach

Riverside, Calif. — The outcomes of social media can be all over the place from being beneficial, devastating, uplifting, and so on. One of the most underrated aspects that it brings is entrepreneurship and networking.

Matthew Kovach used to be a high school basketball coach from 2003 to 2010 at Ayala High School, but over the last several years he has embarked on a whole new journey. The journey has kept him around the sport he loves but has helped him discover a new route to take that allows him to help others all around him. This new journey has brought him to the field of high school and college basketball scouting with the help of social media to use as a networking and marketing source.

“I started doing some scouting for some friends within the high school and college basketball atmosphere,” Kovach said. “Then I started putting some things out on social media, and then it kind of clicked on me that I could really do more in terms of helping people with using social media.”

What better way to use a platform such as social media to help people like colleagues and kids and grow a brand that represents something of great service. That is all that matters to Kovach is the people he is helping and finding a path for students to be able to play at the next level or a school that is going to be the right fit for them for not only sports but education as well.

Everyday is something new for Kovach and he takes in as much as he can from coaching and building connections. He has built a great foundation through platforms to bring awareness and inform coaches throughout the country of the players he works with and has provided to be a credible source for coaches to trust his assessments.

“Connect yourself with the right people,” Kovach said. “As much good as there is, there is some bad. There’s some kids getting wrong advice from people who are trying to help themselves out instead of helping the kid…So find the right people, connect with the right people, and don’t burn bridges.”
