CLIPPERS HOLD OFF LATE BLUE RALLY

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – The Agua Caliente Clippers (7-9) survive a fourth quarter rally by the Oklahoma City Bue (5-12) to win their seventh game of the season, 108-107, on Friday night.

In a game of momentum, Oklahoma City came out strong to take a 10-point lead midway through the first half but the Clippers responded by opening the second half with a 30-13 run to regain the advantage. Facing an 11-point deficit to open the fourth quarter, the Blue went on a 15-5 run to cut the Clippers’ lead to one. The teams would then exchange leads six times in the final five minutes, but Agua Caliente would hang on for the close victory.

Clippers guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes would pace all scorers with 26 points and added eight assists. J.J. Avila added 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field off the bench for the short-handed Clippers, who were without two-way players Johnathan Motley and Amir Coffey, who were both called up to the NBA.

Oklahoma City were led by DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell’s 25 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

Next up for the Clippers is a trip to Mississippi to take on the Memphis Hustle in a matinee on Monday, December 30th. The game is slated to tip-off at 10 AM PST inside the Landers Center in Southaven, Mississippi.
