When The Saints Come Crashing Down

ADELANTO- Friday night was the sight of another instance of Serrano high school dominating their opponent. Early on, Adelanto seemed to have the momentum early on as they forced a fumble on Serrano’s first possession, giving the Saints the ball in the red zone right away. That first possession for Adelanto lead to a field goal attempt that was blocked by Serrano’s Adam Brown. From there the Diamondbacks, led by Senior QB Austin Williams, took control. Williams didn’t do it alone though, as RB Geordan King and WR Andrew Valencia chipped in throughout the contest.

King had a phenomenal performance, racking up four of Serrano’s five overall touchdowns and Valencia tacked on 50 yards on just two catches. The one flaw that Serrano had throughout the game was the ability to convert their extra points. Serrano’s quarterback is also their extra point kicker, and he made one of his two attempts (thus the odd score of 33 off of five touchdowns).

On a side note, Adelanto’s Houston Michael, #25, sustained a serious injury that delayed the game at least twenty minutes. Michael was taken off the field in an ambulance to an ovation from players and fans from both sides. Sadly, Serrano did not see that as a white flag and did not ease up on the blowout.

Adelanto’s one positive note of the evening was a touchdown, but it came with less than five seconds left and all it did was avoid a shutout at home. With the win, Serrano remains undefeated at 4-0 and has managed to only allow 26 total points in four games while tallying 123 of their own.

So far, Serrano has blown out all of their opponents except for their first opponent in Paraclete– a game that ended with a 21-10 Diamondback win. After beating Paraclete in Phelan at home, Serrano defeated Silverado 28-7, Quartz Hill 41-2, and then defeated Adelanto on Friday night.

The Dbacks go up next against Norco in their homecoming game and the Saints face Heritage Christian.
