(Fontana, CA) The Chillin’ and Grillin’ BBQ Cook Off ComPITition is a partnership between the Concerned Citizens for the Development of North Fontana, the Fontana Police Officers Association and the City of Fontana.

The purpose of the event is to help the greater Fontana community continue to come together to keep us all safe from crime and the fear of crime.

We are breaking down barriers and misunderstanding by building trust and personal relationships though communication and events as simple and as Biblical as “breaking bread” together.

The expected outcome is to continue to help make Fontana a better and more prosperous place to live, work and play.   

The event is scheduled for September 10, 2016, from 10 AM to 3 PM at the Jesse Turner – Fontana Park’s Sports Pavilion located at 15556 Summit Avenue in Fontana. 

The Harvard Business Review recently reported that preparing and sharing a casual meal helps build comradery. We see the Barbecue ComPITition as building comradery.  For us that means trust, communication and collaboration.

The Fontana POA has purchased a mobile barbecue to be used to help build better relationships between police officers and the community. This is all about giving back to the community we serve. 

At the event there will be vendors, games, activities, first responder emergency vehicles including a police helicopter, SWAT vehicles, historic police and fire vehicles, current police and fire vehicles, a beam from the World Trade Center and public safety demonstrations.
